What the Qur’an says about death- Reminder of the Day!

Who gives life and death
It is He Who gives life and causes death. And when He decides upon a thing He says to it only: “Be!” – and it is.
(  سورة غافر  , Ghafir, Chapter #40, Verse #68)
It is He (Allah) Who gives life, and causes death, and to Him you (all) shall return.
(  سورة يونس  , Yunus, Chapter #10, Verse #56
And certainly We! We it is Who give life, and cause death, and We are the Inheritors.
(  سورة الحجر  , Al-Hijr, Chapter #15, Verse #23)
And it is He Who gives life and causes death, and His is the alternation of night and day. Will you not then understand?
(  سورة المؤمنون  , Al-Mumenoon, Chapter #23, Verse #80)
It is Allah Who takes away the souls at the time of their death, and those that die not during their sleep. He keeps those (souls) for which He has ordained death and sends the rest for a term appointed. Verily, in this are signs for a people who think deeply.
(  سورة الزمر  , Az-Zumar, Chapter #39, Verse #42)
La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). It is He Who gives life and causes death- your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers.
(  سورة الدخان  , Ad-Dukhan, Chapter #44, Verse #8)
Whosoever is in the heavens and on earth begs of Him (its needs from Him). Every day He is (engaged) in some affair (such as giving honour or disgrace to some, life or death to some, etc.)!
(  سورة الرحمن  , Ar-Rahman, Chapter #55, Verse #29)
Everyone will die
We have decreed death to you all, and We are not outstripped,
سورة الواقعة  , Al-Waqia, Chapter #56, Verse #60)
Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception (a deceiving thing).
(  سورة آل عمران  , Aal-e-Imran, Chapter #3, Verse #185)
And Allah grants respite to none when his appointed time (death) comes. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.
(  سورة المنافقون  , Al-Munafiqoon, Chapter #63, Verse #11)
We can not hide from death
“Wheresoever you may be, death will overtake you even if you are in fortresses built up strong and high!” And if some good reaches them, they say, “This is from Allah,” but if some evil befalls them, they say, “This is from you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم).” Say: “All things are from Allah,” so what is wrong with these people that they fail to understand any word?
(  سورة النساء  , An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #78)
The Angels of death will come
He is the Irresistible, (Supreme) over His slaves, and He sends guardians (angels guarding and writing all of one’s good and bad deeds) over you, until when death approaches one of you, Our Messengers (angel of death and his assistants) take his soul, and they never neglect their duty.
(  سورة الأنعام  , Al-Anaam, Chapter #6, Verse #61)
Say: “The angel of death, who is set over you, will take your souls. Then you shall be brought to your Lord.”
(  سورة السجدة  , As-Sajda, Chapter #32, Verse #11)
And the stupor of death will come in truth: “This is what you have been avoiding!”
(  سورة ق  , Qaf, Chapter #50, Verse #19)
We can take no possessions with us
And We shall inherit from him (at his death) all that he talks of (i.e. wealth and children which We have bestowed upon him in this world), and he shall come to Us alone.
(  سورة مريم  , Maryam, Chapter #19, Verse #80)
The wrongdoers and death
Verily! As for those whom the angels take (in death) while they are wronging themselves (as they stayed among the disbelievers even though emigration was obligatory for them), they (angels) say (to them): “In what (condition) were you?” They reply: “We were weak and oppressed on the earth.” They (angels) say: “Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to emigrate therein?” Such men will find their abode in Hell – What an evil destination!
(  سورة النساء  , An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #97)
They indeed are losers who denied their Meeting with Allah, until all of a sudden, the Hour (signs of death) is on them, and they say: “Alas for us that we gave no thought to it,” while they will bear their burdens on their backs; and evil indeed are the burdens that they will bear!
(  سورة الأنعام  , Al-Anaam, Chapter #6, Verse #31)
And who can be more unjust than he who invents a lie against Allah, or says: “A revelation has come to me” whereas no revelation has come to him in anything ; and who says, “I will reveal the like of what Allah has revealed.” And if you could but see when the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) are in the agonies of death, while the angels are stretching forth their hands (saying): “Deliver your souls! This day you shall be recompensed with the torment of degradation because of what you used to utter against Allah other than the truth. And you used to reject His Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) with disrespect!
(  سورة الأنعام  , Al-Anaam, Chapter #6, Verse #93)
And if you could see when the angels take away the souls of those who disbelieve (atdeath); they smite their faces and their backs, (saying): “Taste the punishment of the blazing Fire.
(  سورة الأنفال  , Al-Anfal, Chapter #8, Verse #50)
Until, when death comes to one of them (those who join partners with Allah), he says: “My Lord! Send me back,
(  سورة المؤمنون  , Al-Mumenoon, Chapter #23, Verse #99)
Those who deny the Book (this Qur’an), and that with which We sent Our Messengers (i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone sincerely, and to reject all false deities and to confess resurrection after the death for recompense) they will come to know (when they will be cast into the Fire of Hell).
(  سورة غافر  , Ghafir, Chapter
#40, Verse #70)
Or do those who earn evil deeds think that We shall hold them equal with those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah – Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, in their present life and after their death? Worst is the judgement that they make.
(  سورة الجاثية  , Al-Jathiya, Chapter #45, Verse #21)
The wrongdoers can blame nobody except themselves
Do they (the disbelievers and polytheists) await but that the angels should come to them [to take away their souls (at death)], or there should come the command (i.e. the torment or the Day of Resurrection) of your Lord? Thus did those before them. And Allah wronged them not, but they used to wrong themselves.
(  سورة النحل  , An-Nahl, Chapter #16, Verse #33)
It is a test for our  eternal life in the hereafter. But are we taking heed?
And He it is Who has created the heavens and the earth in six Days and His Throne was on the water, that He might try you, which of you is the best in deeds. But if you were to say to them: “You shall indeed be raised up after death,” those who disbelieve would be sure to say, “This is nothing but obvious magic.
(  سورة هود  , Hud, Chapter #11, Verse #7)
Say: “Travel in the land and see how (Allah) originated the creation, and then Allah will bring forth the creation of the Hereafter (i.e. resurrection after death). Verily, Allah is Able to do all things.”
(  سورة العنكبوت  , Al-Ankaboot, Chapter #29, Verse #20)
Who has created death and life that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving;
(  سورة الملك  , Al-Mulk, Chapter #67, Verse #2)
Good News for the Believers
Verily, those who say: “Our Lord is Allah (Alone),” and then they stand firm, on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): “Fear not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you have been promised!
(  سورة فصلت  , Fussilat, Chapter #41, Verse #30)
They will never taste death therein except the first death (of this world), and He will save them from the torment of the blazing Fire,
(  سورة الدخان  , Ad-Dukhan, Chapter #44, Verse #56)
